Laser Eye Brow/ Eye Line Tattoo Removal
How does laser remove tattoo?
Q-Switched Nd:YAG laser is used to remove tattoo by the mechanism called photo-acoustic, where light energy directed at the tattooed area for a fraction of a second (nano to picosecond), passing harmlessly through the upper layer of the skin and targeting the tattoo ink directly. The speed of the energy delivered produces a vibration that shatters the ink into tiny particles which are then absorbed and removed through the body’s natural immune system.
How many sessions of treatments do I need? You should see lightening of the tattoo after one session. For a better outcome, 6 to 10 sessions are usually needed, depends on the type of ink and if the tattoo was performed by professional tattoo artist. Treatments are 4 -8 weeks apart and the estimated number of treatments and your expectations will be addressed during your consultation with our doctors.
Can tattoos be permanently and completely removed?
In most cases yes! Amateur tattooing can be challenging and the outcome is sometimes unpredictable. The practise of tattoo camouflaging with skin colour ink is contraindicated for laser treatment as such tattoo usually contains white ink which will turn dark after the treatment.
Are there any side effects since it is so close to the eyes?
Eye protection with corneal shield is mandatory during the tattoo removal around the eyes. The tattoo removal site might develop blister and swelling after the treatment. There is possibility of incomplete clearance of tattoo, scar formation, hypopigmentation or hyperpigmentation (usually transient) over the treated area. Hair loss is normal but temporary.
